It's all happening at Chelsea Hotel

Dec 10, 2012

Breednet media release, Scoring a highly impressive debut win at wagga on Sunday was Chelsea Hotel, the first foal of Chelsey's Image (USA), one of the foundation mares imported from the USA in 2008 by Burnewang North Pastoral. A three year-old filly by Dylan Thomas (IRE), Chelsea Hotel led throughout the 1200m affair and won by almost six lengths, running a much faster time than the colts' division. Offered by Burnewang North Pastoral at the 2011 Melbourne Premier Sale, Chelsea Hotel (pictured as a yearling) was bought by co-breeder Eric Lucas for $90,000 who entrusted her to young Canberra trainer Matthew Dale. The filly's convincing win was well anticipated as it followed an impressive barrier trial. One of the feature lots at the forthcoming 2013 Melbourne Premier Sale will be Chelsea Hotel's half-sister by champion sire Fastnet Rock. Their dam, Chelsey's Image (USA), by Holy Bull, was one of the fastest Canadian 2YO fillies of her year and was nationally recognised with votes being recorded for her in year-end Sovereign Award voting. Nine of her 11 starts were in stakes races, never finishing worse than fifth, winning the Hastings Breeders' Cup Debutante Stakes and Sadie Diamond Futurity. She is out of a half-sister to G1 winner Chelsey Flower. Chelsey's Image descends in tail-female from Lady Cornwall, a half-sister to Dream Appeal (USA), an influential importation whose notable descendants include Kidman's Cove and Charge Forward. The family was in the news in the US over the weekend with two year-old filly Pure Fun taking out the Group I Hollywood Starlet Stakes. Pure Fun is by the Storm Cat sire Pure Prize from Chelsea Green, who is a daughter of Chelseaana, the third dam of Chelseys' Image. Chelsey's Image did not have a foal in 2012 but is currently in foal to Wanted. News from Burnewang North
