In what proved Meticulously 's first victory in metropolitan company the son of Not A Single Doubt continued Dale's notoriety for having success with his horses interstate.
Currently striking at 29% in Victoria this season, Meticulously's victory brought up Dale's 23rd success in NSW.
Having finished third behind progressive filly Just A Blur in the Wagga Guineas last start, Meticulously was successful in continuing his good run of form and had little issues taking on the older horses.
Jumping away well from a favourable draw, Meticulously always appeared to travel well in fourth and when popped the question upon straightening he hit the line strongly to score by just under a length.
Successful in holding off a late charge from the Chris Waller trained Absolutelyanything , Avdulla felt Meticulously run last start had plenty of merit and admitted Dale was confident in the lead up.
"His run was very good in the Wagga Guineas the other day, he had to do all the work up front and was left a sitting shot and wasn't beaten all that far," Avdulla said.
"Matty [Matthew Dale] was pretty confident in the lead up he just told me to ride him positive today and he should run well which he did."
Having hit the front early in the straight, he did appear vulnerable over the concluding stages however Avdulla felt he was never in too much trouble.
"He's not blessed with the biggest turn of foot, fortunately we had a soft run and I just got him rolling before the turn and once he stuck his head in front at the 250m mark I knew he was always going to be hard to run down," Avdulla said.
"It's always good to get a winner in town for Matty [Matthew Dale]."
Having failed to really come up as an early three-year-old, Dale now appears to have Meticulously back on track and is line to reach the form that once saw him finish third in the Black Opal Stakes behind Criterion .
