Flying Canberra filly comes to the Valley

Yasnat has taken all before her in two stunning Canberra runs and trainer Matthew Dale is confident that form can translate well when she steps out at Moonee Valley on Wednesday.

The speedy filly has won her past two starts by a combined seven lengths - earning a trip down the Hume Highway for the William Hill Cox Plate On Sale Handicap (1000m).

Yasnat was educated by leading Caulfield trainer Mick Price and was unplaced in one start at Mornington before being sent to Dale.

Now a three-year-old, she’s developed in her time off and Dale thinks she’s got a bit of a future.

“She was quite immature as a two-year-old when she ran down there for Mick Price,” Dale told Racing.com.

“We’ve been patient with her - she’s only a small filly, but obviously her two wins back have been really good.

“I think she’s shown a good amount of ability in these first two starts and I think she’ll further improve when she furnishes physically.”

Dale says the race presents itself at the right time and Yasnet has the added bonus of being a Super VOBIS filly.

She’s drawn barrier six and Dale expects her to settle and go forward.

“She handles the wet too, which is a big thing - obviously her two runs in Canberra have been on the heavy and it will be rain-affected there on Wednesday,” he said.

“We’ve opted to put Dylan Dunn on, who is riding well, rides the Valley well and gets a 2kg claim to go with it.

“I think she looks well-placed.”
